Any Chances of FR or U2 On LIS-OPO-LIS?

Does anyone know if U2 (Easyjet) or even FR (Ryanair) are planning on flying LISOPOLIS route? Will TAP maintain the monopoly on this route?

U2 is present in France on CDG-NCE and ORY-NCE in competition with AF shuttle, I don't see why it couldn't happen at LIS with OPO

Currently easyjet do not have a regular based aircraft in LIS. However, they do base aircraft at ORY and CDG. Once we see a based aircraft at LIS then that is the time to speculate on whether they will operate that service.

They could very well do CDG-LIS-OPO-LIS-CDG

They could, but by the time the timings would be sub-optimal. Many Porto travellers will want an early morning flight to LIS. Operating the pattern you suggest and it would probably be a mid-morning flight. Using a Madrid based aircraft would be a bit better, but if Easyjet wanted the day trip market then they would probably need a Portugese based aircraft

However could a 1 aircraft operation be done using nightstopping crews, as happenned at FCO initially and will happen at DSA this summer?

LIS-OPO is not a profitable route for TP, according to the interview published today in "Expresso". The route serves primarily as a connecting link to TP's LIS hub. In any LCC wants to get in on it I don't think TP would have any problem with it. Personally I doubt that even a LCC could make any money on it. The 2 cities are just 300Km apart and linked by 2 highways, express bus service and express trains.
