Instead of charging extra for baggage and meals, what if airlines gave discounts off a higher rate for no baggage or food? Most of us would know theyre exactly the same, but would the change in perception generate extra revenue? Would more people buy exactly the same fare if they think theyre getting a discount instead of seeing the extra charges?

I airline A offers A flight from C to D for 100$ and charges 50$ for extras, and airline B charges 150$ and gives a 50$ discount for not using services, A will fly full - and B will fly empty with an applauding aviation enthusiast every tenth flight.
