...but it seems like the controller is under a lot of stress, particularly at an airport like JFK. My question is, how long does an ATC career typically last? Also, is the pay good? Does it vary by airport/how is it determined? It seems like working as an ATC controller can be very fun if you enjoy staying on your toes, but can also require a lot of energy and concentration.

At a place like JFK that could be an "average day" but at my facility not so much, although I work at a TRACON and not a tower.
