I figured this deserved its own thread since the other thread was, by title, a little misleading, now that these new facts have surfaced.
I reported not long ago that MEX-MSY on AM was dead as of 2/27/10. All flights were canceled in the GDS on that date and the route was not bookable on the AM website. Well this morning, for the heck of it, I went back on the website, and I noticed that the route will continue...albeit on a reduced frequency (Monday and Friday departures from each city, although I did see some Wednesday flights as well).
This would coincide with the following report stating that the MSY service would see reduced frequency during periods of lower demand...
I've officially given up on trying to figure this airline out, so I won't even pretend to guess what the eventual outcome of this service will be. For now, however, I'm breathing a sigh of relief.

Agreed. I would tend to think that if they are truly trying to gain a following on US-Mexico traffic, it is hard for them because they never seem to be around long enough for them to succeed
Home Airport: Capital Region International Airport (KLAN)
That was the original purpose since the Mardi Gras is dated on February 16th and AM MEX-MSY was trying to catch the last chance of healthy traffic.
However, it seems that AM has reversed their intended plans.

The connection to SAP is gone but really, I doubt they got many SAP-bound passengers anyway.

Quoting MAH4546 (Reply 3): Same thing happened right before Fort Lauderdale, Boston and Austin were discontinued; as with Toronto right now. A gradual build down of frequency.
MEX-BOS was one route I really wanted AM to well on, but they didn't, at one point it was like only Saturday service, before it was cancelled.... hope the same does not happen at Orleans
