Varsity Express has added a second daily flight to Edinburgh and Newcastle service.


LNQ601 Depart Oxford 0800 Arrive Edinburgh 0930
LNQ610 Depart Edinburgh 1000 Arrive Newcastle 1030
LNQ610 Depart Newcastle 1045 Arrive Oxford 1200
LNQ611 Depart Oxford 1430 Arrive Newcastle 1545
LNQ611 Depart Newcastle 1600 Arrive Edinburgh 1630
LNQ602 Depart Edinburgh 1730 Arrive Oxford 1900

At least you can get a decent working day in EDI if you're flying from OXF. However, vice versa doesn't work at all given the way they've integrated NCL into the schedule.

Never knew that this route had started or was being planned! Seems very cheap fares for a small aircraft such as the BAe 31? Hope it goes well although reminds me slightly of Eastern Airways?

Ok so just had a snoop around their website and came to the 'About Us' section and was reading about the J31..... and it says it is operated by 2 Pilots and 1 Flight Attendant, now... ive been in a J32 which i am thinking is the same as a J31, where is the flight attendant going to fit, let alone be able to stand in the cabin?

Air Queensland / Australian Airlines had a flight attendant on their J31s (hot meals served and everything).

It is actually a requirement in Australia to have a flight attendant if more than 15(?) pax though CASA will give dispensation where the airline's procedures see the FO assume the safety functions of a flight attendant.

Impulse Airlines had a FA station on at least one of their 1900s.

Sunstate had a FA on their Banderanties.

A few airlines in Europe have had FAs on similar sized aircraft. Suckling Airways (later Scot Airways) on their D228s and Interot (now Ausburg Airways) in their 1900s.
