Anyone know what an AN-124 was doing in Kona on Friday, February 5? It was there during daylight hours as was a K4 747F of some kind (couldn't see enough of it to tell what model).

I understand that they fly cattle out of Kona, but an AN-124 seems like overkill for that sort of operation. Unless they are very tall cows!

Series of military charters from March AFB moving helicopters.

That would make sense. Hawaii is a training facility for chopper pilots.

Alamo rental return guy said he hadn't seen the AN-124 before.

Flightaware shows that on Feb. 5, the AN124 came from PVG. It then went to HNL in the afternoon to RON before heading to March AFB on Feb 6. I also haven't been seeing arrivals back into KOA, but there are 2 for HNL. One on Feb. 8 and one today, Feb. 11.

Most likely a 747-100. Every Friday, Kalitta flies HNL-KOA-LAX for Pacific Air Cargo.

I was also that day in Kona. Was very "shocked" to see an Antonov 124 there.
