Indeed, thanks for the remark. I guess we could see some changes in TAM also because they will get two A332s but I guess they will be based in GIG for GIG-Europe and GIG-JFK daily.

I read it somewhere on another forum I think it was Flyertalk, and will try to retrieve. But you are right, the frequencies are yet to be confirmed therefore could be anything even a 1 x week flight! Apparently they hold rights for 3 weekly only.

For decades people have been saying Brazil is the country of the " future". Well judging by that schedule of airlines from Europe, Africa, Asia and Middle East that "future" is NOW.

Rumour is that SIA is looking into GRU. But the fact is that to reach Brazil from Asia is very easy via Europe, US, Canada and South Africa and there is a multitude of airlines offering connection to this effect. In addition, EK (and very soon QR) is capturing part of this market.

The problem is that GRU infrastruture is ingrained in the past... A new Terminal is desperately needed.

NO, Cathay has looked at this but its too far. This is the same reason most European airlines have stopped flying to Austrlia.

Cathay can offer connection using AA's many 777 flights to GRU or connect to BA's LHR -GRU daily 744 over LHR, hey CX flies 4 times daily to LHR. IF Buenos Aires is the destination Qantas flies several times weekly nonstop to EZE from Sydney, a city served multiple times daily by CX.

It depends on how the demand will react and new routes. IATA summer is the best for GRU/GIG/EZE-Europe traffic.
AF will use the 772 probably because they decided not to use the 77W daily and because also they need to use the A332 on other routes.

Aloha,

Aloha ! In fact even this season AA decides not to venture into JFK-GIG as it's diluted the yields between GRU and GIG (and it was a very bad moment). Lets wait and see if AA will apply for the route on the next draft (14 frequencies will become available later in 2010).

AF will use the 772 probably because they decided not to use the 77W daily and because also they need to use the A332 on other routes.

Because there is strong demand for F and premium cabins in GRU was the reason AF decided for the B772 daylight.

Based on July 2010 we will see AF-KL in Brazil -

CDG-GRU 12w (10w B772+2w B77W)
CDG-GIG 12w (7w B747+5W A332).
AMS-GRU 7w B772

GRU gets upgraded to AF B772 daylight this is a major upgrade for the route. All AF flights to GRU will now feature F cabin and more seats on C class as well. GIG will remain unchanged with A332 daylight. I had hoped AF could move towards offering F in GIG but we need to wait a bit more.
