I’ve been a fan of David Neeleman from Morris air till now. Got me wondering about how Azul is doing? What’s the latest news? How many aircraft are they up to now? Routes? How are doing against Tam and Go? Thanks any info you may have! I apologize if this was already talk about recently.

Azul is doing well in Brazil. As reported by Brazil Civil Aviation Authority ANAC it has the highest load factor in domestic operations (90% LF), its route network keeps expanding (2 new destinations will come online in March one of them GYN), it has very good service and this has been recognised by customers, and it led its VCP hub to become the fastest growing airport in Brazil (+250% growth in 2009).

Azul increased its domestic market share from nearly zero to 4% in 1 year and this is a major achievement in a highly competitive market such as the Brazilian domestic market with heavyweights GOL and TAM firing on Azul and also expanding in VCP.

You could see some flight reports and additional info on Azul development on this link (Skyscrappercity), sorry Portuguese only -

I am not familiar with Campinas Airport. How far is it from GRU? I have taken the bus service on several occasions from GRU to CGH and also to Avenida Paulista. Is there now bus service connecting GRU with VCP? If so, how long does it take?
I took a look at Azul's fares from VCP to SDU. They are quite high compared to Webjet's and Ocean Air's fares from GRU to SDU. Is this because Azul is the only carrier flying from VCP to SDU or do they have competition on the route?

There are around 110 kms between VCP and GRU. Depending on traffic, it can take anything from an hour and a half to two and a half hours. As far as I know there are no direct bus connections between the two airports.

There is no bus service connecting GRU and VCP. However, Azul runs bus services connecting VCP with three points in São Paulo city:

Shopping Mall Eldorado
Shopping Mall Tambore
Bus Terminal Barra Funda

Azul is the only airline flying VCP-SDU, but GOL operates 5 daily VCP-GIG (in codeshare with AF).
