I haven't been on airliners.net for a long time. I used to work the night shift "sort" at the Indianapolis, Indiana Fedex Hub Operations! I loved it! I chose to switch to full-time law enforcement instead of pursuing a career with Fedex. I think Fedex Indy hub brings life to the Indianapols International Airport.
My question is this : Are there any plans to expand the Fedex IND hub more? When I left back in 2003, it was smaller than it currently is now. I was driving by the Hub on I-70 heading west, and was amazed how much the "input" building has gotten, and there seems to be more aircraft parking then what we had when I worked there, it looked like they expanded to the west with more apron to part aircraft. Are there any plans to make it bigger then what it already is? I know we get the 757's, I saw several parted there when I drove by at midnight. I haven't seen the 777 there, does IND get the 777 ??
Also, when I worked there we had non-stop flights to CDG... is that the only one outside of Canada still today?

Yes, the 777 does visit IND. During Peak, it ran the ANC route, but that flight has went back to the MD11. The 777 is usually is leaving around 2230. I'm guessing it is going to MEM after the Heartland Sort. I can hear her starting up her engines as I am waiting for the employee bus. I have yet to see her take off or land though. It is parked on the southside, away from the building, of the South Ramp. You can see it from I-70 or at least from Perimeter Road as you approach High School Rd.

They have exteneded the north ramp quite a bit. I think the gates number up to 70 or 72 out in Plainfiled. lol. The East end of the north ramp where the narrowbody gates are located are pretty much a ghost town as the 727 has pretty much dissappeared. I'm guessing there are an average of 6 727s during the weekly night sort. I've asked this on here before, but never got an answer. But I always wondered if those narrowbody gates are gong to be re-lined to handed a widebody? No sense leaving them the way the are, if the 727s are going away. Of course the week before Christmas, FedEx took a lot of them out of storage to use them for Peak, so those gates were filled up.

IND has almost Unlimited Expansion areas..also "time zone" has something to do with it...IND even changed over to Eastern time year around ...partly at the request of FexEx and others, the folks hate it in the summer but still cant understand how it helps the HUB ?!?!?

I saw the 77F taxing around 4-5pm-ish last week, it was taxing from what was the arivals end towards the fedex stands but then I didn't see it again, even as my flight taxied to the departure end at 7:30. Does any one know where t went and how long that turn was? Thnx
