Hi All
Can someone please tell me who the current owners of Mexicana are?
The last information I have is that Grupo Posados bought 100% of Mexicana some years ago then sold some 60% to other investors within a few days of the purchase. What interests me is that Mexicana that Mexicana get an almost passing reference made to them in the GP Annual Reports

Hello beancounter, welcome on Airliners.net!!! Hope you will enjoy the discussions; I look forward to your posts and to having enriched discussions with your participation.
You are correct, according to the annual report for fiscal year 2008 (the annual report for fiscal year 2009 has yet to be filed with the Mexican Stock Exchange), Posadas acquired from CINTRA 94.97% of the shares of capital stock of Grupo Mexicana de Aviación in December of 2005, and eventually divested a portion of its holdings. According to the 2008 report, as of the date of such report, Posadas owns or owned a mere 30.41% of Mexicana.
According to an editorial dated as of October 4, 2007 published by the left-wing, anti-private sector newspaper La Jornada that I found on Google.com.mx, the owners are:
Grupo Posadas - 29.6%
Administradora Profesional de Hoteles - 20.08% (no idea who these guys are... maybe a Posadas affiliate?)
Administradora Corporativa Empresarial (allegedly belonging to Mr. Ángel Losada Moreno, majority shareholder of retail company Grupo Gigante) - 20.08%
Mr. Gastón Azcárraga (Chairman of Posadas) - 2.86%
Mr. Juan Gallardo Thurlow (with interests in sugarcane plantations and processors, and a local Pepsi bottler) - 10.44%
IXE Banco - 2.46%
Other shareholders - 9.49%
I am not surprised that Mr. Losada is involved in MX. You can see a lot of MX advertising in Office Depot in Mexico (which is a 50-50 joint venture between Office Depot and Losada's Gigante).
I hope this helps. Please take this with a grain of salt because La Jornada is everything but trustworthy.
