Just saw this photo and was surprised to see a DL A330 parked up.

Anyone know why or how many?

Long or short term?

It's already back in service.

Delta parked two A330's in the fall when they were coming due for their heavy checks and traffic was lighter. 3304 and 3305 were parked in Sept & Oct respectively; 3304 came out in December and went to Asia for its heavy and 3305 came out right after this picture was taken and also went for heavy maintenance. Both should be back on the flying line.

Beyond incremental operating costs and whatever the mx tab runs to, are there any financial benefits to storing planes? As in, can you declare that for any kind of writedown if it's only temporary?

If they are the old ones then I'm not suprised. There are quite some oldies flying around and many newer ones on the market. I beleive line number 3 is still, just, in service with US Airways.

Zanair flight, please hold on finals as we have to clear rhino's off the runway. Next flight KUL-FRA-AMS Flown in A319,A

2 x Blue Sky: N185UA - N192UA (don't know which one is on the picture)
1 x DL A330: N805NW
2 x B744F (all white): N798BA (9K-DAB) - N797BA (9K-DAA) -> LoadAir

That's all I remember from my last visit at MZJ last december, when I take quick look at the picture (great shot BTW)

Was looking at your list. You mention N624US being stored at VCV, but this one was at MZJ.

Woops, looks like an error in the database. It has been corrected. Thanks! Justin
