I am flying out to HK in a few months and called the airline to switch my seats around. They said they can't move the seats for some reason, the gal said she didn't know for sure, but said it may be because of an aircraft switch (from 744 to 777-300ER). The flight is in June; does anyone have any concrete information about this?
CX 870 has been operating as a 773 for about one month now. Their second flight, CX 872, is still a 744. This might be a temp change of equiptment but if you have a booking as far out as June, it looks like they will still operate with the 773.

The original plan for was the 77W to do the CX870/897 all of Feb and March and then revert back to double daily 744 thereafter. However, it seems that they are extending the 77W to SFO for some flights for the time being with the intent that it will stil go back to double daily 744 at some point before eventually becoming all 77W, but plans change from week to week here so who knows!

Quoting aa61hvy (Reply 4): It was a mileage ticket via AA so I don't access to everything on the CX side.
Thats good you used AA miles on it, CX is terrible on accruing AA miles the other way around. When I sometimes need to buy a revenue ticket to ASia, I have to stick with AA or JL to get miles, because so many of the CX discount fares do not allow AA accrual. JL is really great on letting you still get even maybe 50% AA miles on deep discount fare bases.
I get a cringe everytime I see a missing X under AA accrual when booking CX fares.
Do you have a CX listing number? or some paper ticket? maybe you can still check-in online?
I was able to check-in online on BA and change my seat using an AA ticket.
