There was a film on ICE that had been mistakenly loaded on to our flights which had the Etihad logo intermittently displayed on it. I think it's a rather funny gaffe given all speculation right now between Abu Dhabi and Dubai's "prized asset", Emirates.

Things like that happen all the time when vendors are used. Just yesterday I was flying United in First Class and the biscuits they handed out had a Delta label and even were baked with the word Delta on the biscuit. It's interesting because United uses the same biscuits that taste the same, but are not branded for the airline. The caterer messed up.

If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

I guess so. I was flying Eastern (T3) the other month and I had a quick flick through the inflight magazine to find a big Continental advert on the back page. Granted I don't think it mattered much, J41's vs 777's but still, it made me laugh.

A friend flew Etihad from JFK to AUH last year and one tissue box in the lavatory that was loaded at JFK was actually an Emirates branded one with their logo on the sides.

They're hardly competitors. Continental's interest in advertising there is obvious — they want you to use their services from the area covered by Eastern. Furthermore, they do have at least three overlapping destinations, from which connections are potentially possible.
