Interesting that Latin America and Pacific were the sole areas where demand grow despite capacity decrease:

Latin America

RPM + 2%
ASM - 5.5%

Load Factor + 5.7%

Pacific

RPM + 6.5%
ASM -3.9%

Load Factor + 7.6%

Both were the only areas also, above average load factor.

New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

Well those are the markets with the most potential for growth. Did AA start any new routes in '09/'10 ?

Domesic numbers show that there are still a lot of business flyers who have cut back on travel. In 2008, my wife renewed her gold status for '09 before the end of November. In '09, even with the double miles promotion, she didn't fly enough to renew her status.

So far this year, she has only had 2 trips.

In talking to friends who travel for business, they are also traveling less, simply relying more on conference calls rather than getting people from several locations into one location for a meeting.
