What airline paint scheme do you think looks the best? I like the new Delta scheme (so sue me ), and the new America West and TWA schemes. What's yours?
By the way, are airlines allowed to paint their aircraft darker colors, such as dark blue or black? I hardly ever see any like that, except for Suncoast's scheme.

My favourite NEW colour scheme would have to be the new British Airways colours. The Union Flag colours, I mean. I think that the old tail on the new body would have looked the best, but I still like the 'Flag' colours the best. BUT, my favourite of all time are the Swissair or Air France colours. They are simple white, with accents of colour, and Air France stylised French flag on the tail, likwise for the Swiss flag on Swissair's tails. This is, however, my opinion.

LanChile's new colors look great... on the 767s and the A340 that are on delivery (check out the airbus site in the news section) and the 737. It's one of the sharpest out there today.
Saudi's new one is great. Delta's is ok too very retro.
As far as airlines being able to paint the planes darker colors...yes. LanChiles is dark blue. US Airways, Northwest thick red etc.

My vote goes to Air Jamaica for the best colour scheme - I think their planes are totally beautiful, with the purple, blue, yellow, and the stylised bird emblem on the tail. Their livery is truly exotic!
The best old colour scheme I've seen is one of two liveries used by Modern Air - a polished silver fuselage and engine nacelles with just an orange, brown and gold (?) slanted stripe on the forward part of the fuselage, a triangular-shaped emblem of the same colours on the tail, and the titles on the fuselage. Very smooth on their ultra-sleek Convair 990!

I love the new US Airways scheme. What a difference it makes. It's much more classy. I also think TWA's has done a nice job. I think Delta was better off before. AmWest and Air Jamaica are also some good ones. Oh, and I almost forgot. QANTAS is nice. Simple, yet elegant.

I think that US Airways is beautiful! Its rather conservative, isnt one of those schemes that makes you wanna barf, and uses darker colors which arent very prominent now adays with lots of airlines leaning towards white as their dominate color. Also the grey flag looks excellent on the dark blue.

I would have to say United, I like darker colors and their planes look great under airport lights at night. Second would be Air Canada, It maintains a global player business like scheme, but doesn't make it too intimidating.

I think, all the major US-carriers are really pretty, especially North-West, United Airlines and USAir.
But the best paintschemes of every time were the old colours of Canadian Pacific (CP-Air) and Northwest!!!!!!!!!!!
Outside US Lan Chile and JAL along with Saudi Arabian are very nice, too!
The carriers with mainly whit-dominated schemes are also nice, but I think there are too much "white planes" out there, it's getting boring!

I will agree with MD-11 CPAirs scheme was really neat but If it were still around today it would be Hidieous. Good For it's time!!
Today' best colour scheme would have to be Air Canada. It is not to often when flying abroad and seeing something that reminds you of home. but when you get to the Airport there is Aircanada with it's great looking scheme with the huge leaf on the tail and the green along with it to remind you of the great expanse of land that our country has!!

I think the best schemes are:
1. US Airways--this is by far the classiest in the world (esp. now that BA has screwed theirs up). The navy blue and grey looks great and the red on the tip of the tail is a great addition. The stylized American flag as a logo is also very classy and patriotic.
2. TWA-TWA did a great job with their new scheme--they kept the recognizable old TWA but added classy red, blue and gold trim. The faded Globe in the front is a nice touch
United's is also pretty decent, esp. the tail.
In terms of logos, Northwests' is the most clever--the N with the accent that turns it into a W.
From a European carrier my favorite is Aer Lingus--I love the colors and the Shamrock.
