I used to book my flights through nwa.com and could always reserve the bulkheads (such as row 5 on the DC9-50). Now that I have to use delta.com, I can no longer reserve those seats. The same phenomenon occurs on many flights and on many different aircraft types.
Is this a Delta policy or just a delta.com quirk? Or are such seats only available to higher Medallion members (for now I am just silver). Just wondering....

DL does not allow advanced reservations of bulkhead seats, they are reserved for airport/gate assignment.
I agree that this really stinks for elites as Row 5 on the NW aircraft - DC-9, A319, A320 are the best coach seats on the plane. It is too bad as as elite you cannot reserve these seats. NW used to keep 2 of these seats for handicap, but now DL, like they do on their existing aircraft does not allow for advanced reservation of bulkhead seats.

Quoting PSU.DTW.SCE (Reply 1): DL does not allow advanced reservations of bulkhead seats, they are reserved for airport/gate assignment.
Delta's online seat assignment policy has always been somewhat quirky, though. For instance, non-elites can reserve one of the 2 exit rows on the M88 (and only on the M88) at booking.
