Delta Gates At LAX

I saw a Delta 744 departure to Tokyo from LAX today scheduled for gate 69A or B. I thought Delta only used Terminal 5 and the couple gates on the western side of terminal 6. Have they now obtained gates all the way around the other side of Terminal 6. I thought those were United/Continental gates

Long story short - but LAWA have United a bunch of money, and return other carriers like Delta can access the FIS gates and use the UA T6/7 FIS.
The NRT 744 cant be parked at T-5 without disrupting other DL gates and operations.

Coincidentally, prior to buying Western, DL's gates at LAX were 67A/B and 69A/B. They kept the leases on these gates after buying WA and used them regularly well into the 90s, and they still occasionally used them in the early 2000s. DL used them for their hourly shuttle to SFO in the early 90s, because of shorter taxi times. Good memories -- at the time Terminal 5 still had 16 gates, now down to 13, so there were, at times, 20 Widgets parked on the south side of LAX at a time.

Didnt DL use gates 61 and 63 also?
And gate 65 for Skywest?

There's no longer a jetway at 52B. I think it may have been used for RJs recently, and at last I saw it's where the bus to the AA Eagle terminal arrived and departed.

Back when DL was running the RJs from LAX along the west coast (so as recently as summer of 2008), I regularly departed for SEA out of 61 or 63.

Sorry I missed your earlier question. Yes, in the early 90s, Skywest, used 67 and occasionally 65, which was an EA gate at the time. After EA ceased operations, DL assumed the leases on 61, 63, and 65, and still uses all 3 for mainline flights.

With the NW merger, DL has a packed T5. They are starting to rival AA next door in T4 with the amount of planes parked at a time.

They cannot use 56 when there'sa 744 or a 777-200/LR at gate 58. This happens every night when they use gate 58 for the departure to SYD.

Hopefully we'll start to see more photos of T5 similar to what we currently see of T4.

I was hopeing more along the line of a few T7 to Asia, 737s (with a burning widget) to DEN,SFO,IAD,EWR,PHL,BOS,SEA,PDX, and a bunch of CRJs running all over Cali from LA(and maybe a CRJ or two to TUS,OKC,STL,PHX,ABQ,GEG,BOI....i think you get my point). I would like to get Delta get up to around 150 flights a day.
Ok Im back from dream world here.... I didn't know there was an above ground between 6-7-8 I thought it was underground like 4-*5-6

You have a very nice view of the operations especially between 6 and 7 where you even can see what's parked between T1 and 2.You should check it out sometime.

I think 50A is a bus gate without a counter.
The underground connector from 6 to 7 is now used as a sterile corridor for international arrivals in 6 to take them to passport control under the rotunda of 7.
