Wow! I'm pretty stoked about this.
Good to see Austin is getting more direct flights.

Whoever said you can do anything you set your mind to has obviously never tried to slam a revolving door!!!

Why would Tulsa possibly need service to Miami? It seems like a rather strange city pair. I know there are important businesses and industries in Tulsa, but the same could be said of DSM, OKC, and Omaha.

AA has a huge maintenance base in Tulsa. They're probably rotating 738's in and out for maintenance. Maybe we'll see a 738 on the one remaining mainline flight to ORD from TUL too.

AA flew DFW-FAY a long time ago with mainline equipment. Nice to see them return.

Mmmmm. No sign yet of the long rumoured AUS-MIA route startup. Nice to see AUS get some additional flights!

Nothing to shock about AUS-JFK direct flight. It was announced several months ago, but took a while to be confirmed. I heard getting slot was issue, and it seems AA got one after JFK runway closure is over.

I like AA's schedule, because somehow Jetblue's 3 daily AUS-JFK schedules are little bit extreme.

Excellent news! Some interesting additions to the network.

AA 684 AUS 0935-1430 JFK S80 Daily
AA 695 JFK 1540-1850 AUS S80 Daily

If I’m not mistaken, this extra flight will take AA and Eagle up to 99 daily flights at JFK and a total of 200 daily flights from JFK and LGA combined!

I also heard that slots were an issue, which is understandable because AA is adding quite a bit at JFK for summer 2010 so they needed to find quite a few slots. So far we have -:

Madrid, Spain - New service, 1x daily
Manchester, UK - New service, 1x daily
San Jose, Costa Rica - New service, 5 weekly
Austin - New service, 1x daily
Columbus - New service, 2x daily
St Louis - New service, 2x daily
Santo Domingo - Extra daily flight for 2x daily
Orlando - Extra daily flight for 2x daily
Miami - Extra daily flight for 6x daily
London Heathrow - Extra daily flight restored for 5x daily
Montego Bay, Jamaica - Increased back to daily service from 5 weekly
St Lucia - Increased to 4 weekly service from 2 weekly

Plus all European routes return to daily after the sporadic winter frequency cuts (except CDG is 2x daily and LHR is 5x daily).

Anyway, it’s great to see American making good use of their new terminal at JFK and growing in New York City.

nice to see more expansion into the SE via the DFW hub. AA/DFW seems like it is being competitive with DL/ATL as a gateway/hub for the SE US, especially from the midwest.

AA does a significant amount of 738 maintenance in Tulsa. AA needs to fly 738s between Miami and Tulsa regardless, so AA ran the numbers and figured it might as well create a scheduled service out of it. Plus Tulsa is an elite-heavy market. I'm surprised the flight departs TUL so late. I was expecting a 630-7AM departure. The 1pm arrival cuts it close for same-day cruise traffic.

Correct, it was a one-stop flight via CLT and later GSO, started in 1985. Later it became all-Eagle from BNA and RDU until the station closed.

DL will not be very happy about the DFW-AGS service...will be interested to see how this plays out. Good for AGS to land another carrier.

From one of the other cities awaiting a MIA flight, I know how you feel.

That aside, congrats to AUS for getting SOMETHING new from AA; IMO, long overdue.

Haha agreed...come on ALB.

I didn't know that AA was so big in AUS. Are they number 2 outta there after WN?

This is great news. I'm looking forward to having an another option when I fly from DCA to TUL and back. And 738 service to boot.

I've often wondered why AA hadn't thought of this before. I think it should work well for them.

AA is doing a good job beefing up its JFK operations. They easily have the nicest terminal in the NYC metro area

yes AA has always had a strong presence in AUS. They have even had flights to SNA, SJC, SEA, and RDU as recently as a couple years ago I think. And I think one or two of its DFW flights have been 757's, which all go out packed from what I hear.
