the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.

Emergency officials did not find smoke in the cabin

Maybe the emergency officials should look in the cockpit.   Typical media reporting. Thankfully nobody was injured.

My favorite part was how they are still investigating...yes, maybe after several hours smoke WILL appear in the cabin...

He said passengers evacuated the plane through emergency exits, but no one was injured.

Do they mean emergency escape slides or just the EXITS?

Even on an E190 that'd be a decent jump without slides

I''m assuming they did use slides, based on another assumption that they weren't at a gate, since I am furthermore assuming that after returning to SJO they didn't taxi, but evacuated immediately after landing.

I'm also assuming that some of these assumptions will cancel each other out....But maybe someone in the SJO area has a little more concrete info.
