This falls into the category of, "Are you freaking kidding me?" Cabin crew members are not doctors, they're trained in first aid. This guy would have a case if he had a heart attack, went into cardiac arrest, had a stroke, or started choking and the cabin crew did nothing. Did he expect a F/A to pull out a syringe and needle and stitch him up? I'm trained in first aid and I would immediately help someone who was choking or in cardiac arrest (etc.) but if someone came up to me and said they saw some blood by their scrotum I'd probably laugh! Whats next? Suing an airline because the F/A refused to give you a foot massage?

How about this..... "that guy sure had some balls to sue over this."
Was it a little blood, a lot of blood, a lot of pain? From the brief description while it was probably uncomfortable and nerve-wracking it didn't seem life threatening. And EVEN IF the F/A looked at the guys scrotum what could have they done?

Given the guy a bandage is the most they could have done! lol I certainly wouldn't want someone who only has first aid training poking around that region of my body! haha

Another one for the "just when you think you've heard of everything" file.
Anyhow, I can certainly understand his concern and asking for assistance, but in the end I have to side with the F/As. Really, other than what they claim to have done, what could they do about it? They're not doctors, it's rather unlikely that they can just whip out the supplies and stitch him up right there on the plane, so even if they did have a closer look there really wasn't anything they could do about it anyway...

Just sad. Here in our sue happy society, try to get away with anything I guess. I still don't get how he holds the FA's responsible for a random medical problem. Glad the judge ordered in Air Transat's favor.

What did he do? Get his bag caught in his zipper? I would ask for a band-aid or some bandage, but the last thing I would want is to show my injured privates in detail to some FA, male or female. I wouldn´t want to become the joke of the airline (seen it happen when one mechanic didn´t wash his hands BEFORE going for a No. 1 after working with Skydrol).

Reminds me of an anecdote from , appropriately enough , "Nuts" a book about Southwest Airlines . IIRC a pax wearing shorts sat in a seat where a previous pax had left ( hopefully unintentionally ) traces of chilli powder . That pax , however, sensibly requested ice rather than a physical inspection . Rather than trying to sue I believe he sent a letter of appreciation to Southwest in the form of a humourous poem , and , IIRC , he received another humourous poem back from them in acknowledgement .

It certainly shows that some people have rather confused ideas about the role of cabin attendants , perhaps the pax had read about how a lot of the original cabin crew way back in the early days of aviation were selected for the role because they were actually trained nurses ?
