Where Is The Runway On Piers?

I have seen pictures of a runway that passes over a deep gully and is supported by many concrete columns. I think it is a Mediteranean airport, but I can't remember which one. Can anyone help?

You're probably thinking the Portuguese island of Madeira (FNC) in the Atlantic ocean.
