SN Scrapped BRU-LGW? When And Why?

Just tried booking Brussels Airlines flights from BRU-LGW, which is a route I need to use several times a year to visit parents (and which they use to visit us) and I see that the route no longer exists.

When did they scrap this service and why? Makes life difficult for us.

I believe it was late last year/early this year due to them taking over the route from LHR from BD.

They have moved the service to LHR in conjuction with BD, they operate 3 services A days to Bru, wih A319 aircraft, they have a BD codeshare on them. they operate out of T1 with most of the other Star alliance airlines.

The amount of leisure travel between London and BRU has already affected by Eurostar and must have been decimated by the final completion of the high speed rail lines a couple of years ago, epecially with the intemediate stop at Ebsfleet serving Kent.

it's the bus to stansted (now renamed national express a4 to ruin my username)

I must admit that having travelled in the EUROSTAR between London and Brussels last weekend there is really no comparison. Travel times to airports in London (excluding LCY) are so dire that the train beats it without a doubt. Plus it leaves you bang in the centre of both cities.

You are correct in terms of city centre access. But London is decentralised. Not everyone lives within easy reach of St Pancras (the departure point for Eurostar) which is not especially convenient for travellers living to the west of the capital. That is why there is still a good demand for flights out of Heathrow.
