No sure if this has been discussed earlier. flugrevue.de reports that Lufthansa's A380 are to get the NiceView infotainment system. The system offers a virtual view out of the cockpit or a cagin window to every pax, regardless of visibility in HD quality.

So by 'virtual' they mean it's like some Microsoft Flight Simulator image?

Its big benefit, obviously, is when you're above the cloud deck.

I thought the same thing. I wonder if they will combine that with the camera views that you can get one some planes already...

I think it is an excellent idea. Very nice.   Now I want to fly on LH's A380 as well after "testing" the ones SQ has.

I thought the same thing. I wonder what is the point of the virtual thing when many planes have cameras that let you see the real thing outside...

This is a great improvement over the flight progress maps currently being offered on other carriers' IFE products.

Agreed, it looks great.

Nice system, but I really hope they're not going to use a 767 wingview and cockpit on the 380.

Wow that's really cool... I wonder if they'll let passengers pretend to "take control" of the aircraft on the IFE?!  Wow!

or have a seat in the middle block/aisle...

Great stuff! After having been behind for so long n terms of PTV/AVOD, LH seems to take the lead on this one. Can't wait to get on those birds!

Cheers

I believe I saw this system on Aegean Airlines because I thought it looked like Microsoft's Flight Simulator. If it's the same system, It's AMAZING!!!!!

This is now an option on the Global Express XRS too, very nice system and light years ahead of what used to be offered on this aircraft. (Don't know what the other system is/was but its not very good)

Actually, the cockpit was what first caught my eye.

That's what I get for not reading your entire post!

Same here, I had to go back and look at the wingview after you mentioned it. That's probably where I stopped reading.

Brilliant idea.
HD landscape with cities/rivers and so on - it will be not only enertaining but also educating for many people.
We all know that geographical idiosity is common.

I for one thought the airberlin pictures looked anything but realistic, most Laptops do much better. I'd rather enjoy the "real" cameras. Although the cloud thing is a good reason for virtual landscape, maybe it should be switchable.

Well that is something that X3 has already on their planes. And I found it rather boring. If there are clouds well okay then I can't see the ground but do I want to have it replaced by a MS FS view. Not really. I'd rather have then nice map and the outside cameras.

There is one problem with airbus. Though their products are engineering marvels they lack passion, completely.
