Hey guys, I know I'm up here in Oklahoma. Which I guess is going to get 10 or so inches of snow this weekend, even though it's 70 today, but I digress....

Texas is my closest source for aviation on a large scale. Is there any news as to DFW or IAH, or any other airports? New routes, aircraft, etc.? I don't think we've had this thread in a while.

KE has or will be upgrading the 777 DFW service to a 744 right?

Anyway, let's talk Texas!

I'd love to see it, but I haven't heard anything about this happening. If you do have confirmation of this, please provide it -- I might have to take a trip out to DFW to see it; I don't think we've seen a scheduled passenger 747 here in at least 3 years.

The last time I actually saw a KE 744 at DFW was in 2005 but I'm sure it went on a little while after that... Didn't KE just get 77Ws? Would they maybe see those instead of 744s?
Also, it was being mentioned for the longest time but is their any thought by QF to flying the A380 nonstop to DFW from Australia? It's been years since I've heard anything...
I also remember hearing on here awhile ago that one of the japanese carriers (ANA or JL) were going to start either DFW or IAH... Any updates on this?

Okay, I checked out the KE schds for summer, and I'm wrong about the 744. I want to say perhaps one of the 4 long haul international carriers at DFW did, or will upgrade for a short while to a 744. But, it's always been a fantasy of mine, so perhaps I made it up.

On a side note, I don't remember when the last KE 744 flight was, but I did fly on it in 2001 when it at the ATL-DFW-ICN leg. It was packed. Somehow, even without the DL presence, they make it work as a stand alone now.

AA DFW-CDG goes 777 this summer
AA DFW-MAD goes 777 this summer

It looks like AA DFW-ZRH has been axed.

I doubt we will see the A380 at DFW. Ideally, it would make logistical sense to have a lot of their traffic going to the east coast hub through DFW, but the fact that they will be reducing the 744 flight LAX-JFK down to 5x weekly with an A332 makes me think their ain't too much for them far east. But, then again, I could be wrong.

I seem to remember hearing that BA would switch to a 744 for a couple weeks. Can't for the life of me remember when they were supposed to operate those flights, though.

Yes. Unless something has changed that I am not aware of, as of August 3, all KE flights at DFW will be on the 744. (It's showing up as 744 in the OAG timetable.)

KE last ran the 747 into DFW for about 6 weeks in the summer of 2005. This change is to be permanent.

Yes, this flight was pulled 18-24 months ago.

BA ran the 747 to DFW for 10 days, Jan 17-27. I keep a daily tally of each BA aircraft at DFW - http://www.dfwtower.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=916 Also a few photos of the 747s here http://www.dfwtower.com/coppermine/

On the IAH front, the only rumor that I remember hearing is that ANA is looking at IAH in lieu of CO joining Star. SQ also increased to 5 flights weekly if I'm not mistaken. What's the latest on Terminal B reconstruction?

Yep, NH is rumored to be looking at an IAH service, as to when, god only knows! Could be another wild story like the KE rumor a few years back.

Atlas Air is taking over the the World Airways/Sonair "Houston Express" service to LAD, this summer, replacing the WO MD11 with a 744.

The upper level ramp at Terminal C is back open to commercial vehicles (no more having to check in at 'E', if like myself, you prefer parking 'off airport').

Work at terminal B is still under way, as the people mover extension is nearing completion.

I flew through IAH two weeks ago, and if you want to see some 744s in Texas, then that is the place to go.

When I landed on a Co 753, there was a BA 744, a KL 74M, and a LH 744 at Terminal D (plus a AF 777).

There is at least one scheduled 747 at DFW...I believe it's China Air Cargo....or at least a Chinese cargo airline. I always stop whatever I'm doing and watch as it taxi's/lands/takes off.

Youre both about to eat your words!

KE will be flying the 744 to DFW as of August 3.

Been gone for a long time. At one time that was the highest yielding flight in AA's entire network. When the codeshare died, the flight died with it.

However, DFW-MAD has in effect replaced it as IB and AA are now huge partners. This flight has exceeded AA's expectations on all fronts. When ATI hits, look for IB to be flying this with a larger 2-class aircraft.

Quoting UAL747 (Reply 3):

No need too. Business travelers prefer multiple frequencies as opposed to larger aircraft.

Hehe. I remember when everyone kept saying that KE would certainly move to Houston to join its Skyteam partner, CO. But they stayed in Dallas with no partner and have done well.
