Hi there! Is the LAX Observation Deck on top of Theme Building open to the public now?

YEAH, it took them 10 years to figure out airplane enthusiasts aren't terrorists. You have to love our government sometimes and the bone headed decisions they make.

...at least LAX realised this. The buffoons @ SJC demolished the observation deck and didn't have one put in with the new terminal....

That was one perk about SJC is that observation deck. I remember it being directly in front of the AirCal gates. The observation deck is become pretty rare at airports anymore. SEA used to have a park on the west side of the airport before the 3rd runway expansion. SNA used to have an O-deck surrounding their old terminal with the restaurant in the middle. LGB still has their O-deck. OAK used to have a Tower Lounge about 2 or 3 floors shy of the actual control part of the tower. I haven't seen that open in 10 or years.

It's great to see the O-deck at LAX will be reopening.

Too bad there isn't one at JFK, MIA or the control tower in Boston like there used to be. When teh IAB was replaced by terminal 4 at JFK and observation dech should have been made, charge for it and enthusiats will pay like in Tokyo and Zurich.

At least with LAX there has never been a shortage of alternatives.

Here at SLC, they remodeled the viewing terrace, then quickly shut it down just prior to the Olympics and it's been wasting away every since.

Speaking of LAX, are they ever going to open that deck at T6 between the CO gates?? It seems to always be closed.

No as the place was continually being used by smokers. LAX is a non-smoking facility.
