Various sources are reporting that Alliance Airlines (QQ), based in Brisbane, Australia has signed a letter of intent to purchase 8 F100s form an unnamed European vendor, which will see their F100 fleet (many ex-US?) expand to 19. Alliance runs charters, mostly for mining but also the government sector.
From what I can see, this will make Alliance the largest F100 operator, and the second largest Fokker operator after KLM (Alliance also operates 6 F50s).
That wold indeed be cool, It would make some financial sence, newer aircraft, launch customer (get a discount), better economics (quieter, greener). But the classic F100 are cheap as chips. Also I'm sure banks would have the memory that Alliance was formed out of the shadows of Flight West Airlines, be a little nervous about lending them the extra funds.

How about the ex-Germania aircraft? 8 have not been placed so far with a new operator and are currently stored at WOE. They are all ex US. Perfect match.
The Alpi Eagles ones have the Tay 620 engines, which makes them a somewhat unlikely choice.

It's not the Alpi Eagles birds, which are not that popular due to the reason you stated. I do know who the planes are coming from, but unfortunately I'm not at liberty to say.
