Hey,
I just saw that the CV-880 restoration project has accquired 2 more 880s from the FAA in Atlantic City NJ, presumably for parts. They are ships 3 and 13. Unfortunately, 3 days before they contacted the FAA about getting them, they cut off the tail of ship 3. If I'm not mistaken, these were flown here from Mojave and one of them was the last 880 to fly. I'm not at home to check the issue of Airliners that talked about it, so I'm not sure which one, if either, had the honors.
I really hope they can get one flying again. It seems like they are serious about making it happen, though.
Some pictures of (what's left of) the birds here: http://www.convair880.com/photo_album.htm

The one appears to, and I imagine the other one does as well. I'm not sure though. After reading the story from the 880 pilot on that site about how they went through engines, they will need all the engines that they can get their hands on.
