What's The Status Of DL's 767-300 Domestic Fleet?

Looking through the timetables I still see ATL-LAX, ATL-LAS, ATL-SFO, ATL-PHX, ATL-SAN, ATL-SJU, HNL-SEA, HNL-SLC. I thinks that's all of them. It's still a far cry from what the destinations used to be. I remember when I worked for OH, they were running into FLL, MCO, DFW, CVG, JFK. Obviously, DL has phased out a lot of their domestic 763s, but are they continuing to phase them out or have they stopped for a while? Also, are the 763s that do the Hawaii runs ERs or domestic?

They are 763A's but they have big motors, the PW4060's, most typically seen on 763ER's.

LAX-HNL/OGG will also see 1x 763A

As of right now, Delta has 14 767-300's flying for domestic/Hawaii ops. That's 10 that are strictly 767-300 and the 4 that are 767-300ET (ETOPS).

There are several that are in storage in the desert:

N121DE N124DE N132DE N133DE N134DE at Victorville
N131DE N135DE at Marana

The Marana planes were the most recent to go into storage.

Whether these come back or not remains to be seen. All of them went through the extensive interior mods a few years ago with IFE and new seats for increased capacity in coach. However they are among the oldest in the fleet.

Looking at Delta's summer schedule (which is hard with how much the tinker) it looks to me like there might be a need for a few of these to come out of storage. But, nothing has been communicated to pilots or anyone else that the domestic 763 active fleet is increasing.

You mean DL not DE right? I don't think they have any 767's with DE in the registration, unless these are new arrivals to VCV that I haven't seen before.

Aren't some of the 763s soon going to be flying some of the popular former NW routes, like MSP-LAX?

Also, don't forget about ATL-ANC!

Don't forget about LGA, ORD, DEN, BDL, RSW, PBI, and JAX! I'm sure there were far more than that. I'll never forget seeing CVG-BDL on a 763 and thinking, WHY?!? That sure wouldn't happen today..

They phased out all of the 762s. The domestic 763s and 764s were transitioned to int'l flying, where most remain today.

Flying in the middle seat of coach is much better than not flying at all!

They will be used on both MSP-LAX and DTW-LAX.

The domestic 763's were *not* transitioned to international flying. They are all 763A's and have both low MGTOW ratings and the small cargo doors not capable of accepting pallets. Only the 764's were reconfigured and transitioned to international flying.

But DL did have a bunch or 763ERs flying domestic routes that were then pulled for int'l service, correct?

I don't think so. There are 763A's for domestic flying, and the 763ER's for int'l. The 764 was originally delivered for domestic flying, but now is used for int'l. I don't think DL has ETOPS for the 763A fleet.

Actually, Delta had four 763ERs in domestic configuration prior to 2006. These were converted to international, and were the first 763ERs to get AVOD in BusinessElite.

Eight aircraft actually, N171DZ-N178DZ.
