I was flying on Delta flight 2454 from PSP-MSP (sorry, didn't get the reg number), and I noticed the gogo in flight Wifi instructions in the seat pockets. How many ex NW aircraft have had Wifi installed so far?

Thanks!

I haven't been on any yet. However, I have been on a few DL DC-9's that have had the interiors re-done with the DL leather. My guess is that as they repaint the NW aircraft and redo the interiors that they are also upgrading to the new IFE system and adding Wifi.

Why fly with 2 engines when you can have 3?

The largest group of PMNW aircraft that are fitted with GoGo is the A319. Aproximately 28 aircraft have it presently. About 8 A320's have it and 2 753's. Which ones, I don't know. No DC9's, no 752's. A330 and 747 on't get it. But if you're on an A319, you're chances are pretty good you'll have it

All of those events are performed independently of each other primarily because it varies of where the work can be performed, the duration the aircraft needs to be taken out of service, and based on what they've already committed to do.

-New seat covers & new carpet are all done, and were the first thing to be done, this was done at hubs and line maintenance stations, mostly done overnight. DC-9-30/40's - all retired by October, 757 (5500) - those that are staying will be getting a more enhanced interior refurbishment, and 744's - getting refurbished nose-to-tail from late 2010-2012

-Repainting is almost done, and done at third party vendors and requires the aircraft to be out of service for 1-2 weeks DC-9-30/40 aren't getting repainted, and the 757 (5500)s that are staying are supposedly getting repainted some in Apr/May, the remainder in the fall

-Wifi installation is being done primarily overnight, or 12-24 hours at DTW, ATL, and TPA. See priority of wifi below.

-Other than the 744 nose-to-tail refurbishment, additional IFE installation has not been officially announced or scheduled. They are looking at vendors and a timeline at the moment. IFE/AVOD installation on the A319, A320, and 752 will coincide with the installation of all-new seats that can accomodate AVOD (if they do indeed go that route)

As said top priority is the A319, which will be complete by summer.
Second will be the A320 & 753
Third will domestic 752s, depending on which they decide to keep domestic versus using for ETOPS
DC-9-50's are supposed to get wifi as well, none have been done yet

A330 and 744 will not be getting wifi

all 752s are gettin Wifi. I believe Delta wants the 75As to end up as 75Es and they are looking for someone to do the work. (and they get wife for LAX-JFK, SFO-JFK)

I heard there's a D95 that has the system installed, but it's deactivated awaiting the supplemental type certificate. Nobody seems to know which ship it is though...

Delta's last update was on Feb 26:
http://blog.delta.com/2010/02/26/the-internet-flies-delta/

At that time, there were 34 A319s and 3 A320s. There was a single DC-9-50 and 757-300 with the system deactivated awaiting the STC. Not sure if any NW 757s have been done or not - they don't differentiate.
