I have seen many cabin shot of the L-1011 and the cabin celing seems amazingly tall (is it really tall or is it just me?). does anyone know exactly how tall the celing is? (I think most cabin height is 8 feet). and are the overhead bins hard to reach??

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The cabin roof of the Tristar is very tall, although I have no clue as to what the exact measurements are. Actually, the overhead bins are not that hard to reach. I am 5'9" and had no problems reaching them.

I am short. 5'7" but i could have reached the bins with a little stretch.. But the center roof is high for sure. For the L1011's with out centre overhead bins it looks like a hall in there.. look at the comparison.

I am 5'11'' and easily reached the overheads. But from what literature I have on the L1011, most sources say the ceiling in 8 feet tall.

Yeah, the tristar ceiling is very tall. The tall ceilings were the first thing I noticed the first time I flew on one. It was one of DL's -1s I think without the center bins.
