As I posted on another thread, there's lots DOJ still doesn't like, and shouldn't like. DC area, and Upstate New York, as the New York Times has reported. Oh well, if United wants to bankrupt itself by paying $60 a share at junk bond financing costs, for an airline whose management has been trying to destroy it for at least the past year, that's up to them.
That'd be more opportunity for airlines that give a damn about their customers and shareholders, like Southwest, AirTran, and JetBlue, to grow. Why Jim Goodwin hasn't been physically heaved into Lake Michigan by UA shareholders is a mystery.

Send it along...always good to have more info and articles. Sorry if I seemed harsh. But over the past year, as I've been a staunch merger critic, I've been shelled by a number of UA partisans here who more or less didn't like me raining on their pet airline. Most debaters have well-thought reasons but I've sparred with some plain old partisans as well.
Nevertheless, I'd be very surprised if divesting the shuttle--to American of all airlines--would be enough to please DOJ. They've been unhappy about lots of pieces of the proposal.
