A good move to refurbish those old aircrafts from 3 class to 2 class, makes sense.

Even MAA - SIN for that matter will be getting those 'new' B772 without F class from June or so I believe. Thus we can safely say, by July SQ will offer First class to BOM and DEL only.

Air India to delay its entry into *A by three months

“The IT integration of erstwhile Air India and Indian Airlines can only happen by March next year,” said a senior AI official, who did not want to be identified.
Integrating the IT of the two erstwhile companies would provide AI with integrated product delivery, passenger handling and sales and marketing functions.

The airline’s current deadline to join the alliance expires in December, after being extended from June this year. “Our deadline will have to be extended further by three months, which we are sure we will get done,” added the official.

If this plan would materialize, EY would get an even stronger competitor on its Benelux market for the South East Asian destinations as 9W is now serving BKK, KUL, SIN and later on CGK.

See I don't know whether 9W will target the connecting passengers from Europe/JNB or the passengers from the Gulf. 9W can just connect to either one of those markets and it seems connecting to the Gulf makes more sense than to Europe.

I propose the following schedule for CGK

9W 082 BOM - CGK 0830 1630
9W 081 CGK - BOM 1100 1600

9W 084 MAA - CGK 0200 0845
9W 083 CGK - MAA 1830 2215

The BOM - CGK - BOM flights connect to the Gulf both directions and the MAA - CGK - MAA connect to USA-BRU flights both ways. Besides the timings for the MAA - CGK flight is good for O-D. The aircraft can be scheduled as:

BOM - CGK - MAA & MAA - CGK - BOM and thus avoiding the need of overnighting at CGK.

Effective 16th May TG will terminate its day flights to BKK (TG 339/340). However it will upgrade the night flight from a daily B772 to a daily B773.

So there will be a capacity reduction of approximately 100 seats per week and a frequency reduction from 10 weekly to daily.

After the change, TG operations to India look like this --

HYD -- 4 weekly A300/A333
BLR -- daily A333
MAA -- daily A333
CCU -- daily A333 [Rivals: AIX 3 weekly B738, 9W daily B738, IT daily A321, druk air A319]
BOM -- daily B773 [Rivals: CX 3 weekly A333, IC daily A321, 9W double daily B738, IT 6 weekly A320]
DEL -- double daily from June (currently running 12 weekly A333/B772) [Rivals: CX daily A333, IC daily A321, 9W daily B738, IT 6 weekly A320]

total: 46 weekly flights.

'Manly' Russian in burqa grounds SpiceJet flight

A Spicejet flight on Wednesday made a 'priority landing' in Kolkata after two Russian passengers, including a woman in a burqa, behaved "suspiciously" on board, an airport official said.

The pilot was given a priority landing after passengers reported the couple to air crew and the woman refused to take off her burqa for identification, Kolkata airport director R. Srinivasan said.
