La Tribune may have made some mistakes on the A380 seat configuration but I can assure you that the information I posted about the Lufthansa A380 opening flight to Narita is right.

Quoting Tobias2702 (Reply 1): I believed JFK would be the first destination.
I would have thought so too, but I guess AF beat them to the punch. I'm sure in due time we'll see those LH A380s in YYZ, JFK, ORD, SFO, LAX, GRU, IAD, JNB, etc. before long though!
Flying in the middle seat of coach is much better than not flying at all!

MIA will likely see it before many of those. Gate J-14 is almost ready for the A380, and the work was done entirely at Lufthansa's request.

Quoting Tobias2702 (Reply 1): That's quite a surprose, I believed JFK would be the first destination.
I too am surprised.
But part of the reason to buy early A380's is the 'attention,' so perhaps NRT generates the best 'bang for the buck?' JFK has already seek EK and AF. So how much attention would it generate? (Not much in my opinion.)

All the LH FRA-NRT-FRA flights from June 11 on are zeroed out...
Interesting start...
NRT - I am a little bit surprised but then Japan has a very active civil aviation enthusiast scene, and this can definitely generate much publicity. Getting a ticket on that inaugural flight will be difficult.

initially it seems that NRT will see the LH 380 three times per week ,arr. in NRT Mo, We, Sa thus leaving from FRA Tu, Fr, Su) - according to the LH booking page - the A380 flights have a little symbol to highlight them

It has just been announced here in Singapore that FRA-NRT-FRA will be thrice-weekly from June 11 and FRA-PEK-FRA will be thrice-weekly from August 25. And when four A380s are delivered, both routes will be operated daily by the A380.

I think LH has calculated wisely, where the A380 is needed capacity wise. LH is not the airline who sends their first A380 to somewhere just for prestige. LH is having their prestige with flying to JNB with the german national team in June.
For LH the A380 is special, but in the end, just another tool to make money with.

There are still tickets available for the first flight and its return the next day, but only in Economy Class. Business Class and First Suites are already booked out.

Any know if any airlines are planning to fly their A380's to India? Would have thought AF and LH may have plans to use them to Bombay and/or Delhi. Not sure if this subject has already been discussed, so apologies in advance if it has.

I am wondering...doesnt NRT have only 1 A380 ready gate which is right at the end?If SQ's 380 also arrives in the morning at 7am....and LH's 380 arrives at 730am...where will it be parked?

Quoting ba319-131 (Reply 18): How firm are these schedules, the LH website has a comment against the A380 services:- 'To be localized'
I saw that comment too, now I don't find it anymore. But I believe that was just some technical glitch coming with the small "380" icon.
