Hi guys,
thought it might be worth to put a reminder here that on the next weekend (May 8 and 9), there will be public visitor days at the construction zone of Berlin's new airport, including guided tours (lasting one hour, to be booked in advance):
The building shell of the terminal building is nearly completed, as is the tower. On 7 May, there will be the topping-out ceremony, marking the beginning for the interior works. The new airport is scheduled for opening on October 31, 2011 (though there were some concerns over the past weeks due to delays at concrete working because of the "unusual long winter"). There is a webcam archive monitoring the working progress:
As a side note, on the same weekend the THF site will be opened to the public. Little has changed there, except that there is now a cycle and running path along former taxi ways / runways.
Cheers. Tobias.
