They stopped operating the route in early 2000. The Mexico routes were always profitable and well established but due to AR's financial woes and the slowing Argentinian economy, AR decided to drop it.
On the other hand, MX took up the slack and from what I recall they operated the MEX-CUN-EZE on a daily basis, at least on a seasonal basis. Mexicana has hinted that they would like to operate a larger plane for the route as capacity demands it and the greatest candidate would be a 757-300 strech version. Nevertheless, with the Cintra situation stalled for the time being, MX will continue to fly to Buenos Aires with the 757-200.
