Maybe the flight will be popular enough to make it year-round.

Love seeing the expansion in BLI, and I hope it goes year-round.
I know the BLI airport wants service to more cities, including ORD, and I hope AS decides to go to ORD in the near future. The Canadian traffic should help.

I think the next destination for AS at BLI would be LAX.

Quoting Airport (Thread starter):
Starting June 16th and operating until August 22nd.
Portland to Bellingham - QX2622
2:35pm - 3:30pm
Bellingham to Portland - QX2645
4:00pm - 4:55pm
Not major news, but it's always good to see more PDX gains.
Cheers!
Anthony/Airport
The internal QX site claims June 15th through August 21st. Not real big deal though
It also says that the flight is a continuation flight from BUR so it will go BUR-PDX-BLI. Then going back it will go BLI-PDX-SMF.
Other additional information:
Quote:
"Bellingham-Seattle demand has been strong and so we would have preferred to add a sixth flight to this market for the summer, but there is not an aircraft available in Seattle at a time that would provide a flight adequately spaced with the other Bellingham flights," says Dan Russo, vice president, Marketing and Planning. "However, we do have a CRJ-700 in Portland that can make a roundtrip up to Bellingham and back at a time that will make many of the same connections we make in Seattle and is spaced away from the other flights."
Longer term, Network Planning has tentative plans to add a sixth Seattle-Bellingham Q400 to the Bellingham fall schedule, since demand is expected to remain strong. Bellingham service will be interrupted Sept. 1-20, when the airport will be closed for runway resurfacing.

And I have another SoCal city to suggest...
Now before you LOL, remember that G4 flys BLI-SAN and the flash-in-the-pan Western, a year or 2 ago, had SAN as one of their first -- and only -- destinations from BLI. In other words, there must be some known traffic in the market and I don't think that should really surprise anyone.
Just a thought for the Network Planning folks... (If you want more, just contact me... )

Do you mean PSP?
Just playing, it would be great to see expansion out of both airports (SAN & BLI).

Perhaps this once-a-day flight might be attractive enough to PAX that it persuade QX to keep it year-round since it will be a same-plane service to SMF southbound and BUR northbound? Regardless, I do think that once-daily service between BLI and PDX should exist on a year-round basis.

Yeah, but all your route suggestions involve SAN at one end of them...

What happens to BLI service when the runway is under construction? The whole airport closed?

Well now, there's a pretty darned swell idea; I wish I'da thought of that! (See EA CO AS, it's not ONLY me...)
bb
Considering comments made on the recent earnings call - calling SAN one of the best-performing non-hub cities - it's not inconceivable that SAN could see more AS/QX growth if the SAN-OGG and SAN-PVR markets perform well.
We'll see! Hopefully the future is bright for SAN from an AAG perspective.

Why not? That's not any different than NWA having a hub in MEM or DTW...there's nothing northwest about those cities. LOL!

One could only hope. Maybe as the economy gets back on its feet, AS might restart some intra-California service.

Quoting SANFan (Reply 20): Lindbergh Field is ready and waiting for more Chester, and so am I!
You're getting Chester to OGG and PVR, what more do you want? LOL!
If SAN works well with OGG, I'm sure they'll be adding KOA and maybe HNL.
I now it's not too likely to happen, but maybe AS will add SAN-SJC or SAN-SMF.
