This clock hangs from Terminal 2 around gate F4A

I was told this was the last Eastern Airlines flight to leave ORD

This clock hangs from the opposite side of Terminal 2

I dont know what it means

This is an old Ozark hangar but you can only see it during the day

And of course this is the famous sign in the employee parking lot

Just thought I would share

Just to clarify- the clock shows the time of the last Eastern Airways departure, right? Because that plane was not an Eastern Airways plane.

You work at ORD? So do I! I work in T3 though. I've never seen the clocks or the Ozark Hangar when I was in T2 occasionally. Now I know where to look!

Correct. Eastern hasn't been around since 1991.

That is so interesting. I think it's kinda smart to have clocks on the outsides of the terminal, on the airside. How come we don't do that anymore?

So let me get this straight: that time - 10:02 (am or pm?) - commemorates the departure of the last Eastern Air Lines flight from ORD? I guess that's cool in a way (I'm all for being nostalgic), but I don't see the significance of Eastern at ORD since the airport was never a hub or even a focus city for them, if I am correct? What's the correlation? Has the airport management done anything like that for any of the other now defunct airlines that once served ORD?

Cool photos, by the way.

I realize their for ramp use. We have something similar on our ramp. Here were have an auto docking system and on the same board of the docking system gives info about the flight that will be on the gate. ETA, Reg #, Origin and then when the plane blocks in it tells you the time of when flt will depart by using a countdown, Fuel and bag count. I've seen system similar to ours in other airports like LAX

I think those are called RIDS, in the OP's first pic you can see one next to the F4A sign. The clock is to the left and down a little.

Just came across this little tidbit in the Trib, thought I'd throw it out there: ORD wins "Best in Snow". That's the great thing about Chicago mates: the cold/snow don't really slow the city down. When I have friends and relatives visit from out of town during the winter months, they are continually amazed by how many people shirk the elements to go clubbing, dining, barhopping, theatre going, etc. Congrats to all the DOA and ORD workers who allow this city to hum all year round!
