My coworker just told me that a Cathay pacific flight from HK to TPE had tu return to HK as the left engine died. It should have been Thursday night. Anyone have news on this?

According to this FlyerTalk thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...7585-cx470-engine-caught-fire.html . It developed a fire in one of the engines thirty minutes into the flight. Apparently the flight had had some issue prior to departure, which indicates the 83min first departure delay ( unless it was a rotation delay ).
The pax had been sent on a replacement aircraft.
Aircraft is a 744 according to FlightStats.
Anybody got the reg ?

The engine made a bomb noise and was actually on fire, not simply stop working.
There were 372 passengers on board a B747-400, delayed for 4 hours, each compensated for USD 25 - flight voucher, NTD 200 - meal, and transportation (since the plane arrive almost 12am).
The flight was CX 470, suppose to depart at around 5:30pm or so.
