More information would be appreciated. Might you have seen a Pan Am 727-200 with winglets?

Like CX747 stated, I think you are refering to the Pan Am 727 with winglets. 727-300/400? Nice thought but that line is over and done with. No sense in bringing it back.

If you're asking if Boeing will make a 727-300 or 400, they won't. It would be nice if they did, I had the same thought the other day.

To my knowledge, there is no new 727 variant. It has a highly successful replacement, the 757, There is a 757-300 though.

OH, I know what you're referring to. There's this PanAm 727 that's fitted with winglets. That's it!

Hey Luisdeaf!

How are you doing?

The B727 line was ended in the late 1980s/early 1990s for the B737. It was decided that a trijet of that size wasn't as efficient as the 737 was. Airlines also liked the idea of not having to pay a third crew member.

As of now, I am unaware that the B727 is going to be phased back in, as long as 737 remains in service. I do hope that they bring it back, so that all the 727 sim time that I get here at Purdue University will be worth something.

Most of the 727s now are being given to the cargo carriers (UPS, FedEx namely). Some are running short hops (BOS to LGA) for the airlines. Some are going to the small start-ups (Pan Am) and one found it's way here to Purdue University.
I'll soon have pics Purdue's fleet up on this board.

Actually the 727 line concluded in 1984 with a -200F for Federal Express. You might be thinking of the ceasation of the 737-200 line, which concluded in 1988.

There is absolutely no chance of the 727 ever being produced again.

Ravi is correct on both counts. The last 727 was a 727-200F delivered to Federal Express in 1984. The 757 is the 727s replacement. Boeing is looking into the 757-400 though!
