Yesterday I contacted Emirates to see when they will be putting the A380 on way of there 3 x daily services to MEL. I got a response within a few hours, and this is what they had to say....
Dear Mr Gigacz,
Thank you for your mail.
With regarding to your enquiry,we do not a fixed date for the operating schedule of the Airbus A380 into Melbourne it will be scheduled in the year 2011.
We are currently operating flights into London Sydney and Bangkok with the A380 series.
We assure you our assistance at all times.
Kind Regards,

So it looks like for us MEL spotters, We may have to wait another year before seeing a EK A380 on a regular basis.

'Nigel' misses a lot of information. EK is currently operating the A380s into LHR, CDG, YYZ, ICN, BKK, SYD, AKL and JED (plus the already announced PEK, JFK and MAN).

Not to mention "Nigel's" poor grammar, especially coming from a major airline.

@OP: If what you posted is exactly the body of the email you received I would imagine that "Nigel" is a benefactor of Emiratisation Forgiving the poor grammar and incomplete info let's not forget that EK likes to milk A380 announcements rather than simply dishing them via email. I'm not sure you can take Nawaf Nigel at his word

This year is nearly half over, and they might try to give the A380 to MEL in time for start of Northern Summer, so you will not have to wait thaaaaat long for it. It will be good if this plane continues on to AKL. Carrying lots of people from the UK to the Rugby World Cup. So, will EK be daily A380 between MEL and LHR before Qantas?

Qantas goes daily to MEL-SIN-LHR in March 2011. It is currently at 2 x weekly.
I doubt Emirates will make the A380 service the DXB-MEL-AKL-MEL-DXB.
