This small Gabonese airline will get 1 A340 for their flights to CDG and MRS.

They already operate there with 1 762.

What's the source of this first Airbus ? No type mentionned , 200 or 300.

The article states 265 seats. That would suggest an A340-200, maybe one from SAA (they replace them with A330-200, don't they?).

If is a A342, then Egytpair is another candidate as they have just taken out of service A342 SU-GBM along with B772 SU-GBS.

In another article , it is mentionned Gabon Al will get this A340 on June22nd , but only for the summer season , since one of the 762 is in overhaul in The USA.
Not sure it will be full cs painted !

It says in the article that France is the only destination of Air Gabon; I'm surprised there are no flights to any other Francophone African states?!

Wonder if this is: to cover the 762 while it's being serviced; to replace the 762 or; to increase capacity.

Thanks for the post FCKC

Air Gabon is dead.We are speaking of the new Gabonese airline , Gabon Airlines.

The article said they only fly to France in EUROPE.They fly to JNB and Pointe Noire in Congo as well.

They plan to add 2 735s , 1 752 , 2 F28-4000s and 2 EMB120s.

Not clear if this A340 is to replace the 762 or for growth.

Is there that much demand between LBV and MRS that justifies the A340? Surprised that they don't fly to more major cities eg LHR or AMS, as maybe there would be more demand due to connecting flights.

Well demand is always difficult to say, for the right price the answer is yes.
Gabon is a former French colony. The links to France are strong and there is a decent sized Gabonese diaspora in France.
CDG is therefore an obvious choice, being the main gateway to Africa in Europe as well. Paris is always a strong route for african airlines.
MRS is for the diaspora.

AMS or LHR doesnt sound like destinations with much demand from Gabon. AMS in general doesnt seem like a very likely desitnation for any african airline.
Perhaps BRU though?
