Where does Fedex do aircraft maintenance at? I know that virtually every US airline outsources maintenance and I'm assuming that Fedex does it as well but do they do any of it in house?

Yes they do some inhouse. Left over hangars from Flying Tigers at LAX where they do MD-10/11 work.
Otherwise I regularly see them in the maintenance areas at SIN.

IIRC, they recently built a huge new hangar to do 777 maintenance in Memphis.

Fedex does in house C chks on MD10/11 in LAX(old Flying Tigers) , B chks on 727,757 MD10/11 in IND(old US Airways & ATA hangars), B cks on 777, MD11 & A310/300 in MEM. They were close to having all the MD10 C chks in house but have pulled a few from the desert causing them to be vendored out.

B chks on 727,757 MD10/11 in IND(old US Airways & ATA hangars)

They also used to do 727 maintenance at Goodrich/Tramco/ATS in Everett, WA (as of about 3 years ago), but I'm not sure if that's still happening.

727 C chks were performed by Goodrich in PAE & AAR in IND, but Flightstar in VQQ has been doing all 727 C chks for a little over 2 yrs now and started doing the 757 C chks now.

I guess the old "only FedEx hands will touch FedEx aircraft" spirit is still kicking around, huh?

What about D-checks?

What about aircraft that fly overseas? Do they eventually find their way back to the states for checks?

I think TIMCO does some at GSO? Have seen an MD10 or two over there at times.
By the way, any news on when FX finally ramps up GSO?

I second that, I have seen MD11, DC10, and MD10 all in Timco hangars at GSO recently.

Yes TIMCO in GSO does MD10 & Airbus A310/A300 C chks, other vendors include ST Aerospace in BFM - MD10's, and Aeroframe services in CWF does Airbus's. Oversea's ST Aerospace in SIN does MD10/11 C chks, TAP in LIS does Airbus C chks, and GAMECO in CAN Does C chks on Airbus's. The hangar in ANC is use for Line MX & A chk's
