Can anyone tell me exactly how many 742s remain in the BA fleet as of now? Also, I know they operate the 742s to Boston, Cairo, and I've also been told Miami. Do they fly anywhere else at this point? Thanks.

But we got our money's worth out of them, though not as much as the -136's. The 236's will be good buys, one very careful owner.

Indeed sad to see the 236's go. Is BA going to do anything special when the last one goes? Sadly, I doubt they will. The last one hundred series had one side painted in the old BOAC livery.

Bit of a modern mystery why G-BDXD went so early. Any reasons why? Is a next owner lined up? as I do believe its sitting in the desert at Marana.

Good thing I got my ride on a BA 742 last summer on G-BDXG, which seems to be in BOS daily...

They are currently flying two daily 747-200s to Miami as temporary substitution for the normal two-daily 747-400s, both of which are being converted to four-class service. When those 744s are converted and put back on the MIA-LHR route, the two 742s will probably be retired.

Do BA ever use the 742's to Orlando Florida as I am flying on this route soon and would rather fly a 744 because I doubt a 742 will be fitted with new World Traveller service and PTV's if they are to be retired - anyone know?

Yes, regularly a 744 is used on LGW-MCO, though, check first, because 742s are being brought in as temporary substitions on 744 routes like MIA-LHR as they upgrade the 744s. Though, AFAIK, MCO-LGW is currently 744.
