Will QX paint other planes in other university colors? I just saw BSU last week at PDX, so can we expect University of Idaho? Or University of Utah? Or any other west coast schools?

Or University of Utah?

I tend to doubt that the Utes would get a plane, given that Alaska/Horizon have no presence in Utah outside of codesharing with Delta (and maybe AA).

I always enjoy seeing these planes when I am at PDX or SEA. the Q400 for the Broncos is fun. I have seen the WSU Cougars and UW Huskies Bombardier..they look fantastic. what other schools are represented?

Good thread!!! thanks

there is an Oregon State Crj-700 and an University of Oregon CRJ-700 and a Washington State University CRJ-700 I think those along with the ones mentioned above are all of them.

I always thought it would be cool to have a logo plane for each Pac-10 school + the Boise St. But with the possible realignment (for those who follow college sports), I don't think there are enough planes to go around. I could only imagine a U. of Texas Q400 operating SEA-YVR or a Texas Tech Q400 LAX-RDD.

Anyways, I don't see any other logo planes in the future. IMHO

I recall a thread talking about this very subject. One school got the middle finger from AS/QX on a Q-400 being painted in their school colors. I believe it was Idaho?? Or was that Portland State?

I second that. I think they are done. When the CR7's go, then those schemes will be applied to the Q's later.

I am a little surprised there hasn't been any University of Alaska themed planes. Daddy is named "Alaska Airlines" after all.

Given that I am a Trojan, that would be very cool   But the addition of Boise State is testament to the fact that the airline is looking to support the flagship schools of the (core) states that it serves, not an entire athletic conference stretching from Seattle to Tucson. Though the airline now has a fairly large presence in California, it still has a negligible presence in Arizona (and, in light of recent events, Colorado). I could *maybe* see them adding Cal, Stanford, USC, and UCLA, but Arizona or Arizona State wouldn't make any sense considering QX doesn't even serve PHX or TUS.

LOL, I flew the Boise State Q400 on LAX-STS-SEA this past February. Don't think that just because the plane says Boise on it that it only flies in and out of BOI.

However, they do serve FLG.

I was speaking more in sarcasm. My response was more to make a funny!

I'm very aware that the college birds fly everywhere. I worked for AS 11 years so I know the reasoning and how the system works. I'm also aware the planes are keyed on core states in the system and people on the West Coast relate to most/if not all of the logo planes.

But a Texas or Oklahoma State plane flying around the west coast is weird. That was my only point!

There probably isn't one because QX doesn't fly up there. Maybe a University of Alaska 737-400 Combi plane.

True.

While we are at, how about a paint scheme for The Evergreen State College with a big geoduck on the tail? They can have a special catering of brownies on board.

Well..for what is is worth...The Fresno State Bulldog would look mighty fine on the tail of any plane, but a CR7 would best since that is what serves FAT.

QX told Fresno State, sorry, not gonna happen. Talking to the University last year, they said that even with repeated attempts - they're just not interested. Has everything to do with the PNW and not FSU.

GO Dogs - you'd better win the WAC now or else.

Or, how about foregoing all full body theme Q400s and simply paint the QX tail logo on some Q400s in the colors of different universities with the corresponding school logo on the nose? Gold and black for University of Idaho, green and yellow for University of Oregon, and so forth. It would save a lot of $$$ on paint!

What are the chances of a San Jose State plane? After all AS/QX have added a number of new destinations at SJC recently. I think that alone is a good reason to paint up a plane in a SJSU theme.
