Is there anyone out there who knows about what flies into Toronto International
Airport (YYZ)? I'm especially interested in the MD-11. So far, I've seen 6 airlines
fly it to Toronto: Swissair, Finnair, VASP, Alitalia, KLM and Martinair. Does
anybody know of another MD-11 regularly (or rarely or only 1 time!) flying to
Toronto?

I'd be especially glad if anyone knows some earlier stuff: what's the first MD-11 that
flew to Toronto, for example. The first one I ever saw was a light blue or white one
on or right after June 23, 1992. My best guess is that it was Finnair, but it was too
far away to tell.

One more thing: does anyone know about any MD-11 that happened to be all-white
in August, 1992? Around August 14, I was at Montreal, and saw an unmarked (or
so I recall) MD-11. This was unfortunately before I knew the value of writing down
registrations. Does anyone know what a white MD-11 would be doing in Montreal in
1992, and which one it might be!

Swissair was probably the first one into YYZ but i don't know that for sure. I saw a FED EX MD-11 come into YYZ last month.

If you want the past schedules maybe Korean Air.

I know I saw an Asian airline fly an MD-11 into YYZ last winter. Don't remember the airline, possibly Korean, but I remember it was Asian. Maybe Cathy Pacific?

It couldn't have been Cathay, as they have never flown the MD-11, or Korean Air, as they had already turned their MD-11's into freighters. My guess could be JAL, Thai, Garuda, China Eastern, or Mandarin (or China) Airlines.

There is virtually no Asian service into YYZ except for KE and CX. Korean could have used them before they turned them into cargo's.
And i just remembered i saw LTU MD-11 about a year ago at YYZ.

The all-white MD-11 you saw in YUL may have been World Airways. I have seen them fly one into ATL (where I work) with no logo...just plain white...on several occasions.

I work International Operations w/Delta in ATL, so I see
plenty of MD-11's all day long. Not a bad plane to work, although I don't particularly like the ones with the extra fuel tank in the forward cargo compartment (really cuts down on the cargo capacity, plus a little tough to balance).

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about them from the operational aspect.

Right now in fall, Vasp is the only airline to use MD11s coming to Toronto. Finnair comes to Toronto in Summer only, on Wednesdays and Saturdays using MD11s. KLM might use some MD11s on occasion in Winter - They use mainly 747-300s in Summer. Swissair and Alitalia used to have MD11s coming to Toronto, but Alitalia is now using 747-200s and 767-300s, while Swissair stopped service to Toronto a few years ago. I'm not sure about Martinair, but I think they use 767-300s and sometimes 747-200s when they visit Toronto.

....... may have been World Airways? I'm always confused about the status of this airline, but there have been World MD-11s in an almost all-white scheme, with minimal logo, nothing remotely approaching the old World billboard or red/gold. You'd have to check dates to see when World operated them.
