I did not find any thread about this, so thoght it would be a good idea to mark this event with its own thead.
According to Boeing they
Quote: began fuselage assembly of the first 747-8 Intercontinental at the factory in Everett, Wash. Mechanics loaded panels for the 31-foot, 8-inch (9.6 m) long front section of the new airplane into the assembly tool. The panels are part of section 41, the area of the fuselage that houses the flight deck on the upper deck and the forward passenger cabin on the main deck, an area that most airlines typically configure with first class seating.
The 747-8 Intercontinental is the new, high-capacity 747 that offers airlines the lowest operating costs and best economics of any large passenger airplane while providing enhanced environmental performance. Boeing has 109 orders for the 747-8 -- 33 for the 747-8 Intercontinental and 76 for the 747-8 Freighter. The first 747-8 Intercontinental is scheduled to deliver in late 2011.

Quoting na (Reply 1): There are many pictures of it in the popular 747-8 flight test thread although I dont mind you opened a new thread honouring this important event.
Quoting oykie (Reply 3): This desverses its own thread indeed Not all off us browse throught all threads at airliners.
Agreed, I don´t follow the flight test thread as it is too long.
I can not wait to see the first aircraft in LH colors. The first 747-8Is are VIP aircraft. When will the first LH aircraft roll out of ? I guess it will wear LH colors from the very beginning. Just like the ANA 787 and the Cargoloux 747-8F.
It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong
