The waste drain dump valve leaks. Waste water leaks out and freezes. The plane decends into warmer air as it gets ready to land and the ice block falls off. Happens often....

I wouldn't leave that block of toilet ice on my car seat to melt into the fabric like that, unless he is looking to get a whole new car out of it?

The 'hit' is about six miles from where I live, it's not the first time it's happened either. Being under a couple of major airways where aircraft begin to descent towards London and Bristol it's not really surprising.

American, National and Northwest all had leaky toliet dump valve leaks on 727s that formed a chunk of blue ice that went into the number 3 engine, tearing it completely off the airplane on three seperate occasions. Russ Farris

I like how the guy is holding what looks like frozen urine and waste water in his bare hands! Maybe its even worse than that. As one Dr at the CDC told us in a class, "If its wet and it's not yours do not touch it !!"

He is lucky, if I may say that, it was only his windscreen. Notice how close to hitting the sheetmetal on the roof of the car.

There was a woman back in the 80's that had this happen to her, only in came in through a skylight in her home.
She thought it was a meteor, so she put it in her freezer to "preserve" it until the authorities came to examine it.
I would have loved to see the look on her face when they told her what it was made of!

This happened recently to some in MKE. A chunk of ice from a airplane crashed through the roof of their home, went through two floors, and ended up in the basement. Apparently it missed a sleeping child by inches...

Blue Water Ice caused by a leaking Drain valve at Cruising Altitude Freezing & falling out.
Its acually containing Contaminated water with Urine & Excretia.Even with the DDD [Dye/Disinfectent/Deodrant] added.
Not Advisible to Hold it.

Would they be able to track the aircraft that it fell from? and if so can they claim from that airline or would this be an act of god?
