Just curious as to what the progress is on the 738s as far as putting AVOD in every seat along with power ports?

Last I had heard they all had Wi-Fi and were in the processes of being fitted with PTV. I would like to know how many and which ones had as I am flying one of those later this July

Not sure how many are complete but if your flight aircraft is coded 73H then it will be an PTV aircraft and wifi is complete on all 738's.

Aircraft 3744-3771 are currently equipped with AVOD, and 3772 and 3773 will be delivered with it shortly. There are no additional AVOD installations planned at this time.

So Timf you're saying that DL has halted PTV/AVOD installations on the 738 fleet for now? Any idea when they will resume?

The aircraft noted above were the only ones ever slated to get AVOD. Much like the 757 fleet, Delta opted for a transcontinental subfleet of AVOD-equipped 737s as opposed to retrofitting the entire fleet. It is expected that in time all remaining 737s and 757s will get AVOD, as well as potentially the A319/A320 fleet, but at this point none of that has been finalized or scheduled. The only domestic aircraft getting AVOD this year are the MD-90s.

So the chances of me getting on one of those B738 on a domestic are small?

I wouldn't say that - plenty of AVOD configured 73H's are flying around. I've flown them between ATL and JFK before, which isn't a transcon route. So it depends on your route and/or which ship is scheduled to operate it.

As someone who is around DL's systems quite a bit, it appears that Delta has abandoned (mostly) the specific use of the AVOD 738's on certain routes. There are exceptions, such as SAN-JFK and PDX-JFK. Originally that was the idea - AVOD 738's JFK-west coast and other transcontinental routes.

But nowadays I've been on AVOD 738's on routes like GEG-SLC; SLC-PHX; CVG-MCO and so forth...and no AVOD on routes like MCO-LAX; CVG-SFO, etc...

Part of it is due to them really needing 2x the number of 738s with AVOD.

yep.

Yeah me too. Had AVOD SLC-LAS (all one hour or so of it...), yet ATL-MEX-ATL and MEM-MSP...nothing. Good thing they at least have Wifi

911, where is your emergency?

I just did DTW-SFO on a AVOD 738. Nice ac and the F seats were comfy. It was still in need of a repaint into the new livery. Also I came back on a AVOD 752 to DTW as well. Nice to see them integrating these ac into the old NW hubs!

At the beginning of the year, DL exec management said they were going to go ahead and install winglets and AVOD on all their 757/738s. At the same time, I don't see them speeding up installation of either right now during the busy summer season. This will wait until the Fall or Winter slow months.
