Air Canada starts their YYZ-PDX flight today. It's flight 533, departs YYZ at 5:30pm and arrives in PDX at 7:38. I will be working the inbound into PDX every night on the ramp. I haven't heard if they will have some kind of party for the inbound for what. Most likely, it will be for the first outbound on June 18th.
The flight will operate out of one of UA's E concourse gates. It will depend on the UA operations for that day. With jetBlue moving over to the C councourse by the end of the month. That will free up gate E3 for AC in the mornings for the departure.

WOOHHOO!
I will have flightaware, LiveATC, Flightstats and the whole cahoney tracking this flight. It **appears** like loads on the YYZ-PDX flight are relatively strong for the first few flights based on KVS Availability tool analysis. Currently, 532 is scheduled to depart from gate E5 for at least the first two flights by way of looking at the flight status page on AC's website.
Moving B6 to C makes sense simply because with 4x daily flights, B6 should have a dedicated gate.
Congrats AC and PDX!!

Interesting and it would be nice to see AC do well on route. Can they try to tap some connecting traffic to Europe or possibly S America/Carribean on these flights?

Was this previously a Jazz flight?
Is AC flying the Embraer 190's using mainline pilots?
Just curious.

Quoting whiteguy (Reply 8): Jazz has never operated this route. They do operate from YYC

I think this is one of the most important new routes at PDX in a long time. The onward international connections from Toronto and a link to a big international city are great.
I hope this service sticks for many years. The E90 seems perfect for a route like this.

How many gates does UA have left in PDX? The incredible shrinking airline...

We will be down to 3 gates July 1st.
The flight came in 30 minutes late tonight. It landed on 28R. The Port didn't even send out the fire trucks to give it a wash down. I guess the Port spent all their money on Delta's 3.5 million dollar payment!
