As most of us know, airline security still has a long way to go. Improvements have been made over the past eight years since 9/11 but there are still major gaps in aviation security.Flight and cabin crew security training varies from airline to airline but a lot of F/As and pilots lack basic knowledge of hand-hand self defense techniques.Fortunately, since 9/11 we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of federal air marshals both in the US and in Canada but we still have a long way to go in other aspects of on board security.

Canada already has a version of US DHS. It's Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada (PSEPC). They are the US DHS counter-part.
